The FTC does not require franchisors or business opportunity sellers to register with it directly. However, several states do require registration. Some state laws are tougher than others in registration requirements, but most have adopted the UFOC guidelines for their disclosure requirements.There are currently 14 states for which franchise registration is required. If the company is authorized to sell franchises in the following states they will be registered at the following agencies:
